I read somewhere that it would cost about $14 billion over 10 years to restore the Louisiana marshes to the point where they could act as a weather barrier which would likely prevent this from happening. A bill to fund that project was vetoed last year. Now $10 has been allocated JUST for this one hurricane? Even if all you care about is your pocketbook that just doesn't make sense!

The AP is now also reporting a large oil spill that appears to be coming from some tanks with a capacity of 2 million barrels.No more details yet.
